Why choose this
Each plate is painted by hand: golden gourds hang from a trailing vine among green leaves drawn in fine lines, leaving the rest of the plate open and white for whatever you serve. In Japan the gourd is a charm for good fortune and a long, healthy life. One set, found in Japan in a limited edition.
Two square plates, painted by hand: a larger one for a small main or a sweet, and a smaller one for a side.
Ideas for the table
- The larger plate: a piece of grilled fish, an onigiri or two, a few pieces of sushi, or a slice of cake.
- The smaller plate: pickles and small sides, a wagashi with tea, fruit, or cheese and nuts.
A limited edition we found in Japan, and the only set we have. As each is painted by hand, the gourds and leaves differ a little from plate to plate.
